Flying Pig Farms, Fainting Goats, Laying Chickens, Lots Veggies, but no Bacon.
Though we haven't given up on that.
We started our farm back in 2006 when we moved to beautiful Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It started with a garden, just a few raised beds, with the purpose of leaving the smallest footprint possible. That garden grew, and then came the small barn and chicken coop. We filled the barn with registered fainting goats and the coop, actually a chicken tractor, welcomed 8 wonderful Rhode Island Reds. Somewhere in there we also started making home brew and even made some awesome dandelion wine when our yard turned yellow with flowers in 2011.
Our goal is to feed our family through the garden and eggs from the chickens, but to also sell the surplus to local families and restaurants. We plan on starting a CSA, Community Supported Agriculture. Great care has been taken to ensure that the land is treated naturally and only organic herbicides and pesticides are used. All the animals are treated with respect and are happy and healthy. The chickens free range during the day and are kept safe at night in their locked coop from the ever present and sneaky foxes that haunt our land. The goats wander around their pastures browsing at will and come dusk the goaty games begin.
Have fun exploring our farm here online and feel free to contact us with any questions. We are breeding our fainting goats and will have kids to sell at different times during the year. They are fun, sweet, and a constant source of amusement. We look forward to hearing from you. Have a wonderful Day!
